After your braces are removed, you will need to wear a retainer to hold your teeth in their new position. You may have one or two retainers. They are made of plastic, metal or both and may be removable or fixed in place. It is very important to wear your retainers exactly as directed or teeth could start moving requiring further orthodontic treatment.
